Toulouse-Lautrec and the Stars of Paris

Toulouse-Lautrec is famous for his renowned posters, prints and illustrations that evoke the fin-de-siècle Paris, and in particular that of Montmartre, Paris’s center of entertainment. The exhibition highlights how Toulouse-Lautrec was an incisive and radical artist which has led him to be described as embodying “modern freedom.” He is a key figure in connecting the artists, performers, authors, intellectuals, and society figures of the time. The MFA is partnering on the exhibition with the Boston Public Library, which has remarkable depth in Toulouse-Lautrec’s graphic works.

These selections from the exhibition include prints by Toulouse-Lautrec as well as many of his contemporaries.
